French couture 1960s satin full length skirt suit by Leanne Terreau, complete with flower button detail. The jacket has a high neck collar and a double breasted front, finished with two columns of beautifully hand made, clear plastic flower-shaped buttons. The skirt is cut in a classic A line shape with a central back pleat to create volume and movement. It fastens at the left side of the waistband with two hook and eyes and the original grey metal zip. The fabric is a soft, silver-grey satin, with an almost pearlescent luminosity to it, making this piece the perfect formal outfit for any occasion. Both items are well lined in a high quality, silk-feel rayon.
Although clearly made as an ensemble, both pieces would lend themselves to being worn separately. The skirt can be paired with other jackets and tops whilst the jacket could be dressed up our down with smart trousers or even jeans. Both the jacket and the skirt are in very good to excellent vintage condition, especially in light of their age and pale nature of the fabric. We spotted two very faint and small blemishes which were only noticed with the items in hand. The blemishes didn't photograph and won't be noticed when the garments are worn. The skirt best fits a UK 8 or US size 4 but could be altered to create a larger waist due to the length. The jacket will fit up to a size or so larger. Our model is a UK 6-8 and 5ft 4in. (163cm) and this suit was a good fit on her.
